The success of the program is made possible by the participation of the hard working fishing professionals, our Official Research Centers, and the generous contributions from our sponsors and donors.
For Costa, conservation is all about sustainable fishing. Many fisheries that should be vibrant and healthy are all but devoid of native fish because they have fallen victim to poor fishing practices, unregulated development, lack of watershed protection or all of the above. Costa works with partners around the world to help increase awareness and influence policy so that both the fish and fishermen of tomorrow will have healthy waters to enjoy. Costa encourages others to help in any way they can.

In 1966, Mr. Ishii, a Chemical Engineer employed in the researcher division of Kureha, Japan, and Mr. Yoshida, and avid angler working in the Patent Department of Kureha, Japan, noticed that the attributes of Fluorocarbon were ideally suited to fishing line. The men saw that Fluorocarbon is less absorbant than nylon monofilament, impervious to UV rays, high-density and nearly invisible underwater. They knew early on…Fluorocarbon would revolutionize fishing line!
The American Fishing Tackle Company (AFTCO) was established in 1958 by big game tackle pioneer J.C. Axelson. Within the confines of his Newport Beach, California basement, J.C. Manufacturer of quality wire, leader and rigging products since 1976. Proudly made in USA.Line and leader are the critical link between you and the fish.
For over 28 years we’ve been providing serious freshwater and saltwater anglers like you with the finest quality line, leader, and rigging products. Our AFW range is the largest selection of wire line and leader products in the industry. We still produce all of our own wire, strand, and cable at our factory in the United States.
Our quality exceeds our competition and our products are proven to withstand the powerful, unsympathetic bite of toothy fish like Barracuda, Bluefish, King Mackerel, Pike, Shark, and Wahoo. Whether you’re in a stream or on a boat, our range of wires are tailored to suit your specific needs – from the stealthy 6 lb. test of knottable Surflon Micro Ultra, to the whopping 900 lb. test of the mighty 49 Strand cable.
Everybody is familiar with GPS as used in cars and airline displays. Not everybody is aware that Navionics is the one that pioneered it all: simply stated, Navionics changed the way people navigate by bringing to market the world’s first electronic chart device in 1984, called the Geonav.
Until then, several others had belabored on the concept, but nobody was able to turn the idea into a viable product, that truly worked and could be bought off a shelf. It is no surprise that some compared the revolution brought by Navionics to the revolution brought by the magnetic compass.
