Tag Recapture! GFR 2671
Cubera Snapper named “Rojo Fuerte”

GrayFishTag Research – The international and fully interactive multi-species fish tagging program.

The Cubera Snapper (Lutjanus Cyanopterus) named “Rojo Fuerte” (Tag ID: GFR2671) was originally tagged & released by angler Manny Zerzte on April 12th, 2015 while fishing with Captain Dago and Mate Berto aboard the charter boat Florida from the Tropic Star Lodge (www.tropicstar.com) in Panama.  The Cubera Snapper had an estimated total length of 28 inches and weight of 25 pounds.

The tag and release of that Cubera Snapper was actually filmed as part of the The Loose Cannons Fishing team Capt. Michael Berry, Capt. Joey Basile, and Director Jeff Aderman trip to Panama (www.loosecannonsfishing.com).

The Cubera Snapper was at liberty in the water for 160 days until it’s recapture on September 18th, 2015 by angler Burton Tuttle aboard the Miss England charter boat with Captain Luis Moreno and mate Manuel Murillo, also from Tropic Star Lodge.  Burton recaptured and released the Cubera Snapper approximately 500 yards off the coast of southwest Panama.  The recapture location is 13.3 miles north of the original tag location.  The Cubera grew approximately 6 inches in length and 10 pounds in weight during that time period.

This Cubera Snapper was one of only 3 fish that have been tagged and registered in Panama waters.
