We are excited to be welcoming Mr. John Brownlee as the latest supporter and Advisory Board Member of Gray FishTag Research. With JB’s extensive experience and hands-on approach we are looking forward to working together.
In his 30-plus years in the fishing industry, John Brownlee (known far and wide as “JB”) has become an internationally recognized light-tackle fishing expert and journalist. As the former editor-in-chief of Salt Water Sportsman and Marlin magazines, he has traveled the globe honing his angling skills and learning techniques from the best captains and guides in the world.
Brownlee now serves as executive producer and host of “Anglers Journal TV”, which now airs on The Discovery Channel. AJTV is the video extension of the award-winning Anglers Journal magazine, where he is an editor-at-large. He also serves on the board of The Billfish Foundation and is the Upper Keys representative for the International Game Fish Association. JB and his wife, Poppy, make their home in Islamorada, Florida, where they can pursue their shared passion for saltwater fishing full time.
We are also thrilled to announce that Gray FishTag will be featured on the “Anglers Journal TV” which will allow us to reach a widespread audience. GFR will be represented in all original episodes throughout the 2018 season. Each week JB will be joined by a Captain and the team will be tagging at least one released fish per episode, with the possibility and hope for more. An in-depth conversation about the Gray FishTag Research program will also be discussed on-camera; where topics such as how tagging works, how it’s fun and important, the recapture rate and how data is shared etc. This is truly a remarkable opportunity for our program to grow and reach new masses. The show will be airing on the Discovery Channel, staring on August 5th.
